On Sunday 6th June, young carers from YC2 joined together to tie ribbons in celebration of Carers Week, which is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.
The theme for this year’s week, which is sponsored by Carers UK, is ‘Let’s Make Caring Visible and Valued in 2021’.
The group from YC2 tied hundreds of ribbons in red and yellow YC2 colours and blue for adult carers in recognition of the local young and adult carers who are supported by Community Care North Bucks and YC2 and for the many more who go unrecognised and unidentified,
Special thanks go to Buckingham Town Council for giving us permission to create the display, Howes the Florist for donating the ribbons and Pregos for their generous discount on pizzas after the display was finished.
