YC2 (Buckingham and Winslow Young Carers) is an organisation that help young carers who care for family members and are below the age of 19, to deal with the stress that comes with what they do. They do this through monthly evening’s get togethers, weekends away and by giving a shoulder to lean on when things get tough. They allow young people who may not get the chance to socialize properly, to make friends and do things that they may of never had the ability to do.
All this is due to the amazing volunteers who setup and lead activities and weekend stays, and Margo, the master mind behind everything and someone who puts in more time and energy to make the lives of these carers better than can be explained. I spent 9 years in young carers from the age of 9 all the way to 18 and I would not be the person I am today without the friends I made, activities and experiences I have gone on and the support I was given. I know that nearly every other person who has been through YC2 over the years would also say the same thing.
As a challenge I wanted to try and run 200 miles over October, after roping in my dad (Mark Farr), we thought it would be a good way to raise money, Young carers was the first thing that came to mind. we hope to raise money to lessen the impact Covid-19 has had on YC2 and to allow for more weekend trips and get togethers to aid in these stressful times.
