Open House continues to grow in numbers and attract new volunteers. We had an enjoyable time over Christmas with a meal out at Cherry Lane Garden Centre and a joint Christmas lunch with Carers. We were entertained by Emile who came up from London, having run a Bottle Stall at the Community Fayre to raise the money to pay for the entertainment.
Since Christmas we have had two meetings, a social morning with a tombola of unwanted Christmas presents and in February, Terry Penny treated us to a talk about Stanley Holloway with recitations of his popular monologues. Some of us also visited the Ballet, Cinderella at Milton Keynes Theatre.
We are looking forward to another year of sociable activities and friendship. Loneliness is one of the highest causes of death in older people. The aim of Open House is to help counteract this.
